F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range
Overview
The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range is an electric powerhouse that defies traditional pickup expectations. With its instant acceleration and impressive horsepower, it's not just an electric vehicle (EV), it's a revelation on wheels.
When you experience the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning’s sound system, you might not immediately realize that this truck runs on electric power. There’s no typical engine noise; instead, the electric motors provide a burst of power that pushes you back into your seat with an intensity that leaves no room for doubt: this isn’t your average gas-fueled F-150.
The Lightning offers nearly everything its gasoline counterpart does, presenting itself as a near-perfect doppelgänger, from the inside out. However, what lies beneath is a whole different story. Each model comes with two electric motors powered by one of two battery options. The Extended-Range battery powers the system to generate an astonishing 580 horsepower, allowing for a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in an astounding 4.0 seconds during our tests.
When it comes to driving range, the EPA estimates vary between 230 miles for the base battery and up to 320 miles for the extended one. It’s worth noting that towing can quickly drain the battery, resulting in more frequent charging stops; however, this is a common challenge across all EV trucks. If you’re someone who only occasionally needs to tow or only does so over short distances, the F-150 Lightning will certainly meet your needs.
This EV beast can be customized to suit various needs and asks for little in the way of compromise when compared to its gasoline-powered equivalent. It’s an electric workhorse built to serve and impress in equal measure.
